SVX transmissions

Has anybody put a 92-94 SVX transmission into a 95-97 SVX? It would appear the price for a 92 Subaru reman is alot cheaper. I know the TCU has different part numbers.

edit to change years

More looking in the parts reveals

1992 SVX AWD 31000AB860R1 (R denotes remanufactured)
1993 SVX AWD 31000AB860R1
1994 SVX AWD 31000AB860R1
1994 SVX FWD 31000AB870R1
1995 SVX FWD 31000AB870R1
1995 SVX AWD 31000AC780
1996 SVX AWD 31000AC860
1997 SVX AWD 31000AC860

It would appear no remans are available for the 95-97 guys. I was always told Subaru only sold reman automatic transmissions. The only transmission you could buy new was a manual as Subaru does not reman manuals. The price for a reman vs new is almost $2000 difference.

Subaru sells new and reman automatic transmissions. New transmissions are usually limited to vehicles that are still being produced (unless, of course, they are new old stock), and they usually will only offer a reman program on popular numbers.

Thanks Dave, that makes alot of sense as the 1992 was the most problematic. Do you think the updates on the newer transmission go into the the rebuilding process of a 92 trans? I doubt Subaru would honor the two year warranty if it was put in a 95-97
Since April 2003 the price of the reman has increased $200+ If I would have bought it back then that would have cover the price of sales tax. Since working at the dealer I have become a parts junkie/hoarder.
