Well, I didn't get the gas mileage that I anticipated but I still think that I got some pretty decent numbers. I went 466 miles before the fuel light came on and 487 miles before I filled up (31.9 MPG). I only get above 31 MPG when I travel on long trips and keep my speed around 60 miles per hour. On this particular trip, I had a sprint from 60 to 110, so I think that had a significant detriment to my gas mileage.
I love my car.

Old SVX = 470 Tank
New SVX = 350 Tank

Old SVX was 92 LS
New SVX is 96 LSi

Old SVX = Cold Air Intake, Shift Kit, Exhaust.
New SVX = Stock

Weight difference 300lbs. Im going to do a lot of the same mods to try and get the gas mileage back. Drove new svx from Denver to SLC on 1.5 tanks of gas, and its 560 mile drive..6 hour drive.

Thumbs up Just got...

382 miles on my last tank! But for just over 1/2 of the tank, my car was in 'safe mode'. Can't wait to break 400 on a tank...

Will a shift kit significantly improve your gas mileage? By "significant" I mean +2 or more miles per gallon. If so, that may be another reason why my SVX is so efficient.

I seriously doubt it - it will only make your shifts firmer and slightly quicker.

-Chike

P.S. If your trip was mostly highway at a steady speed in 4th gear, the shift kit wouldn't come into play at all. Your good mileage was due to something else.

well i just ran through my first full tank after getting the transmission up and working. hardly any highway travel, but not a lot of extreme stop/go, usually go a couple miles before a stop then go another couple miles.

got 22mpg

I get horrible gas mileage. For a full tank of city driving i will get about 160 miles. But i do get very good highway mileage even though i drive at very high speeds (80-100mph) NY State troopers are very familiar with my car .

I too have this problem and have no check engine lights of any kind and a 5spd. A half a tank a gast last me about 125 miles before the light comes on doing all city driving, if i happen to hop on the highway it dramatically improves...
