Replace Cross member?

I have no clue on this...so help me out.

When i got in my crash, supposedly the rear cross member got tweaked. The bodyshop was unable to straighten it out perfectly, and the camber on my rear wheels is out of whack as a result.

Is it possible to replace the crossmember? And if it is, how labor intensive is it? Could I do it myself and then take it for an alignment?

Thanks all you tech gurus.

Bwana, are you talking about the rear sub-frame?
The body shop probably got paid 'frame time' to repair the damage,(they have specs to measure this), and or replace it!
If they didn't set it up and measure it, you will potentially have trouble forever. I used to sell 'Frame/Unibody' equipment. No excuse to do any repair w/structural damage, w/o measuring!!
Good Luck!! Brian

There are two parts that it could be. It could either be the Rear Subframe, or the Rear diff crossmember. My bet is it's the subframe because I dont believe the rear diff crossmember has any affect on camber. The rear subframe lists for $830.52 and there is one in the country.

There's no way you could replace the rear subframe yourself. It is a pretty intensive job even for an experienced tech.

Yeah, i think it's the subframe. I'm stopping by the dealer this week to have them look over everything. I'll ask them about it too.

Thanks guys.

Although, personally, i dont mind having rob here. Adds some spice the the site. Maybe because im such an argumentative person, but he actually says it outloud.
