ABS/brakes going crazy
I did a search, but didn't find much on my particular problem. It started yesterday, I let my buddy drive the car down the street to rite-aid, and he came back and parked it. About 10 minutes later, I went out to the car to retrieve my sweatshirt. I heard a kind of buzzing noise coming from under the hood, so I opened her up expecting to see some coolant boiling over the rad cap. But I found that the noise was coming from the thing that says ABS on it (might not have just been from the ABS computer, but could have been the other thing next to it). Is this also the Master cyl for all the brakes? Well, I unplugged both sensors and the noise stopped. I'm very confused why it would make such a wierd noise.
The brakes seem to work fine even with both plugs unplugged (haven't tried to lock them up yet). Any insight? |

I think it is the relay. It is rather cheap to replace (~$40?). I had the same thing happen to me and I just pulled the ABS fuse. Now I have the ABS light on all the time and I do not have functioning ABS, but everything works fine. I am not a huge fan of ABS anyway.

Do you know where the relay is? In the fuse panel? Or in the ABS unit under the hood? I think I will try to replace mine.

It is up front by the ABS stuff, not in the fuse box.
Here is a link: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...ategory=267-A2 I believe it is item 3, motor relay. Price runs under $40 at most places. Don't let the ABS motor keep running, it will burn up. Pull the fuse until you can replace the relay.
