Dash light went out

Hey, Does anyone know if putting in a new stereo might cause the speedometer and tachometer. and the PRND321 Not to light up any more. Its not the dimmer switch or a fuse. I have already checked. I just thought maybe I did Somthing wrong. I just got it back from the transmission shop and the could have done something too I suppose.

Thanks,
--Miles

Did you check the fuses under both the hood and the kickpanel? That's really all I got, hope it works out!

fuses

yeah, I checked all the fuses. They are all good. I dont know what the problem could be i have been trying to uncover it for about 3 weeks. im starting to get used to not have my gauges at night, lol I dont think thats a good thing. I read in a really old thread from eddycats garage about this. It seem there was some one that had the exact same problem. So I sent him a pm and he hasnt gotten back to me yet. But in the thread there was no solution. But the thread was put up in 2001 so I hope the guy found a solution since then.

Thanks,

Last summer my fuse blew which caused my lights in the dash to not work, the headlights still worked, but none of the rear tail lights, only the brake lights. If you haven't checked just check those to be safe until you figure out what the actual problem is. I had a guy follow me home because I didn't realize they weren't on.

PS I'm mad that Miami beat Florida tonight, they were up by more than enough and they blew it half way through the third quarter...just had to get that out.

I had this exact situation happen in an old Mazda I used to own. The answer to my problem was that I connected the wrong acc wire to the new stereo. You probably connected the wire that served the purpose of illuminating the original stereo's display. Just find another wire that is hot when the ignition is in the acc position, and use it instead. This will solve your problem (hopefully). Good luck.
