Does leaving resistor unplugged cause Code 11?

Okay, I've done some searching and I think (hope) I'm in luck. I noticed that my power light was flashing so I pulled codes.

Turns out I got Code 11, Duty Solenoid A.

So I did some searching on this board and is it correct for me to assume:

As long as the resistor is UNPLUGGED under the hood you will ALWAYS get a Code 11 from the Power Light?

I really hope so. I bought the car with the resistor unplugged and haven't touched it. Is it better to leave it off, or plug it in?

Thanks!!

with it unplugged, yes you will always get the blinking light.

as to one way being better than others, that's debatable and why the kit was invented. For my own car I originally put about 500 Ohms across the plug which was high enough to give the shift characteristics of an unplugged system, yet the blinking light is gone. Lately I've gone to around 300, and may go lower. In some old reading I came across a site (auto tranny repair assoc) that had a formula which implied the value should be around 70 or so ohms. You might find the exact post with a search, it's been awhile.

Yes I found the post that you were speaking of.

I was just concerned if I had tranny problems or not.......thank god no.......figure it's too soon for that.

I just want to get rid of the light.......I don't like illuminated dummy lights. Did you just use a standard 1/4 watt 5% 500-ohm resistor?

Thanks for the help!!

Since the original resistor may pass an ampere in current and is rated at 20 watts, I suggest something a bit stronger to be conservative.

Currently I'm paralleling three 1K Ohm, 1Watt,5% resistors. That gives me 333 Ohms with a 3watt rating. Got them at Radio shack for like $1.69 or something.
