Radio went Quiet

Cruising to work this AM, listening to the radio, I popped in a cd. No sound came out. Popped out the CD to return to radio, still no sound except faint sounds of the broadcast at max volume.

I can hear the radio over all 6 speakers with volume at 100%, but only slightly. All functions work in both radio and CD. This is the original radio/CD setup.

The Question: Is there an amp exterior to the radio, or is it time to go radio shopping?

So you only get audio if you put on the radio, right? Not from the CD.
Does the CD still spin? I dont recall but is there a mute button on the SVX system, if there is check it?

Yep, CD spins, acts like everything is ok.

The radio broadcast is extremely low, and only audible at 100% volume.

I have never noticed a mute feature, but the symptoms would support that IF there is a mute......

There is no mute that I am aware of.

Wink

Sounds like a wiring aberration. Did you pound on the dash with your fist yet? Worked wonders with my '53 Olds AM radio.

Ron (fixes audio systems cheap).

Oddly, it all seems to be associated with the CD I was trying to play. I don't know why, but when it's in the player, the whole problem occurs, problem remains when it's ejected, but when I put in a different cd, the problem stops. Everything works as long as I keep the Japanese CD away.

The CD in question is a Japanese import, but that shouldn't make a difference....go figure!
