Just curious

I'm thinking Pioneer AVH-P3300BT Double Din DVD/CD with a bunch of front inputs

Does anybody have any experience with this unit or similar?

That is the exact unit I have I like it.

This picture the radio is on, this deck gets information from the radio station about song and artist.

And another thing you may be interested to know it will browse and play your Ipod-Iphone songs without the special order ipod controller. Just plugged my usb cable in and it worked perfectly.
Also You need some sort of kit I think mine is a relay, so the deck thinks the e-brake is on.

Why do you think I made a special reference to the radio being on, the information is from 97.9 radio station.

Absolutely outstanding, looks great too

Don't know if I'm all that interested in watching video while I drive. I like that I can plug all my gadegts into the front. I've already played with one at Best Buy and was absolutely impressed by the stuff I could do with my IPod Touch.

Many thanx, thats the nod I needed to get it ordred on E-Bay

Re: Just curious

I have that unit in one of my SVXs as well. Great unit, love it. The only complaint I have is that, unless I am missing something, power goes to the antenna when any source is selected even if you aren't listening to the radio. I hardly ever listen to the radio but the power antenna goes up every time I use the unit . I think I am going to have to somehow put an external antenna switch on it to prevent this. If I am missing something please let me know!

That would make sense.

Mine has an older after market piece of turd in it now. The antenna goes up the moment you turn it on. Doesn't matter whether a cassette or CD is in play.

I suppose it just works that way and even though I too rarely listen to the radio, I think I can live with it

Re: Just curious

I installed a switch inline with the power antenna wire and put it through the top of the coin holder. If I ever desire to listen to the radio I can put it up.

Many HUs, including the AVH-P3300BT, only have one wire for both speaker amp remote turn-on and power antenna control. So it has to activate that lead the entire time the HU is on. Other HUs have a separate control lead for the power antenna, which works the way you would like.

You may also be able to install the European OEM antenna control switch. See this post. The button can be also installed in the similar opening below the shift lever. Added: USDM cars won't have the wiring for it, of course, but it's a nice, stock switch that actually has the correct label for what you want it to do. If someone can get the part number, you should be able to order it from avoJDM or JapanParts.

To find the method to avoid needing to connect to the parking brake switch, Google "parking brake bypass" with your HU's model number.

Re: Just curious

Thanks for the harness SVXdc. Is it possible to get to the antenna wire and install a switch without taking the whole dash apart?
