Who has a G-tech Pro??

I am looking to borrow a g-tech pro to use for a little while... Harvey suggested that I use this for some before and after data for the cams that have been talked about so much lately... If I can get my hands on one of these I can get some data on paper so that it can be analized to see if we can do better or if what we have accomplished is all we are gonna get.. So if you have one that I could use for a while please let me know... I could also use a wideband meter if someone has one I can borrow... This will help find the best fuel pressure to use to support my mods... Thnx for the help guys

Tom

Yeah, you'd need to do a before and after. I can run 6s with my XT6.

WEll I was looking to get a G-tech Pro RR but I found something better. I realized that a while back Mychailo was talking about this Mr Dyno thing... So i d it and what do ya know... they are on sale at 50% off So I just placed my order for one... I should have it soon. This way I will be able to get some plots on what exactly the car is doing between mods This will also be used to give future modders a better idea of what they are getting into that is not just trap speeds and 1/4 mile ET's

Mr. Dyno will do it all for $125. Hmm. It seems that they are having a sale, and now its only $63. Great price, but IMO its difficult to remember how to use it. I have to take the manual with me every time I use it.

Thumbs up

Good choice. It'll be interesting to compare your hp/tq curves to Mychailo's and vice versa.

G-Tec scans.

This is a scan of two different cars on the quarter. This shows the run, as rpm verses time. It shows where the time went, like the manual took around 0.75 seconds for each gear change.

You can look at HP V time, or a complet break down of the run in time. This is the type of info that you have to get, to know where you are now, and which way to go.

Harvey.

G Tec Pro scans.

This is a before/after scan of a cam that my Son Steve used in his 240Z Datsun. The cam was 240* 7.8mm to 256* 8.5mm. You can see the difference. The drop at the lower end was more than expected, due to some exhaust interferance between cylinders, because of the extended duration. This is fixed by extending the header branchers.

This sort of feed back is invaluable, in working out what has to be done. It is as good as a dyno run, as the actual numbers don't matter, its the torque curve that is important for the results. We could have spent a lot of time trying to work out why the low end lost so much, but one look at the scan tells the story.

Harvey.

G Tec Pro scans.

Run the G Tec over the 1/4 and you come home with more than just a slip. This shows the complete run, you can see what happened and where.

(this one is from the G Pass softwear, not one we did)
Don't know if the Mr Dyno does the same, if so that will be fine
Harvey.

Maybe if you use it often, you'll not need the manual all the time, but I use it maybe once every few months, so I just take the manual with me. Its a great device though. I think it is one of the more accurate devices out there. For instance, it corrects for the effect that vehicle squat/dive has on the g-sensor readings, and it corrects the HP/TQ figures for the ambient air density.

Does it have the ability to record everything the G-Tech Pro did in those graphs Harvey posted?
