Question carbon fiber anyone

one of the first things i had noticed about my svx when i got it was that its drunk is so damn heavy. every one that i have shown it to is amazed by how heavy that trunk lid is. so i was wondering if anyone on her has ever looked into carbon fiber trunk lid replacement. i know it wouldnt be just going out and buying one. i know that it would alomost have to be a custom job, but sill. that trunk is damn heavy. so there is my question...has anybody looked into carbon fiber trunk lids?

i think that has come up quite a few times in this forum.... seems like we all would want one, but like you said, this would have to be a custom job that would require quite a lot of money to push it forward...

Maybe....

I'm picking up a stock trunk lid at Reading (right mike? You still have it for me?)

After checking it out, I may decide to make a mold for some trunk lids, esp. if there is some actual interest.

We'll see.....

I thought in another disscusion that we decided it was so heavy to balance out the car? If we start tacking to much weight out of the back the car will get nose heavy. Then again that thing is damn heavy when the struts go bad, and moving the battery to the rear and sticking a NOS bottle back there could balance out the car again. Hmmm, so when are you gona make these trunks?

I was thinking about this two days ago so I looked at the "seam" where the black stops and the pearl white begins. There is no seam... it's seamless. When you say "trunk lid," how far does this actual part go down? To the fenders?

Wouldn't a carbon fiber hood balance out a carbon fiber trunk?

carbon fiber spoiler

I have a carbon fiber hood now, it's pretty awsome. I wouldn't mind just a carbon fiber spoiler. I think the whole trunk lid would be a pretty expensive endeavor.

spoiler

I would say the spoiler accounts for a lot of the trunk weight. But I haven't actually had the trunk off though
