Actually you need to RTFM just to turn on the radio. The car does everything but the steering.

Re: Site traffic
I have noticed traffic slow, mainly because of two things:
1) Facebook group gets more views since most people are on Facebook all day anyways, will generally get quicker responses, and approval to join the group is quick. 2) The forum is essentially blocked off from the outside world. It's almost completely blocked from Google, so much so that if you "svx forum", we're the 3rd link but there's no description provided at all. Couple that with the long wait times for new members to get their account approved (mine took 2 months) and it's no surprise traffic is down. It's a shame because there's lots of information here and I'd rather people start threads here than on facebook because it's easier to find old threads on here.

Re: Site traffic
True, the facebook site is much faster and its easier to post (since i do a lot of posts from my phone).
Is there a plugin or anything that could link this site to the facebook page? That way if something is posted there it creates a post here and vice versa? That might help. I know you can link Twitter to Facebook, but I wasn't sure about anything else.

Re: Site traffic
I also think we have been discouraged by administrators to refrain from non-SVX posts. Jokes, cartoons, other cars, politics, all the things that used to keep the forum lively. All for the sake of keeping it a family oriented forum. We must protect all the kiddy's looking in on us.
And, some of the newer administrators haven't posted in a long time. Lost interest?

Re: Site traffic
We have too many Facebook pages. Very confusing.
We have this "Subaru SVX World Network" Facebook page. This seems the one that is currently in use: Has a direct link to the Network https://www.facebook.com/groups/86594703272/ Then this one: "Owners of a Subaru SVX" Facebook page. Similar https://www.facebook.com/groups/2247247929/ This one is the SVXWN Facebook site. We have no idea who created it or authorized it, but it is really worthless. Last post was beginning of September. https://www.facebook.com/SVXWN We also have the TI SVX branch Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/360996297330119/ And then there is the SVX Reading Meet Facebook page. This was not very successful and useless from the beginning and now a dinosaur. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Readi...6220?ref=br_tf And over on the "Dark Side" Facebook page. Almost 2800 members on the forum, many who are registered here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/svxworldforums/ .

Re: Site traffic
.
And doing a Google search for SVX isn't helping, compared to other descriptions of each website. Even the SVX World Forums has a little more of a description. Don't know why we have what is listed. Try doing a search on a particular subject or a particular post on Facebook. Will make your eyes bleed. If someone has a trick, post it here. .

My computer went down a while back and it is up and running again. I usually check more than once a day. I don't always post though.
I don't have time to do facebook, so never look at that page.

Re: Site traffic
Here's a guess. There isn't any "Text" with the name of the website on the main pages. There is a logo graphic with the name, but that isn't text.
To optimize the site for search engines here are two recommendations. 1. Use descriptive and informative text on each page of your website, choosing words that relate directly to your product. 2. Create distinct titles for each of the pages on your website, and use your keywords in the titles.

Re: Site traffic
IMO, Facebook is the number one reason that forum traffic is down. I'm a part of multiple car communities, and this very topic has come up on all of the forums that I frequent. Every forum I visit has seen a large decrease in traffic over the last 12-18 months. It's the instant gratification that Facebook provides that attracts people to post on those groups instead of forums. Posts generally have multiple responses within minutes on Facebook, whereas it may take days to receive a single response on a forum.
Of course, this particular forum also has the unique problem of new members not getting approved in a timely manner, and the Google search issue which are only making matters worse. I even find myself coming here less often because I can catch up on a week's worth of posts in a matter of minutes because there are so few. I really love this forum and there is so much information here that is so valuable to the SVX community. Facebook just doesn't have the record retention or searchability that forums do, and if the forums ever go away, that's going to be a big problem for many SVX'ers. I'll admit, I'm a little concerned if this forum and the other car forums that I frequent are still going to be around 2 to 5 years from now.

Re: Site traffic
We will take the robots/web-crawlers bots block off. Back when we ran the servers on an honest to goodness T1 (1.5mbs circuit), Google and Yahoo would saturate the connection thus bringing the site to its knees and slowing everyone else down. We have more bandwidth and capable hardware so Monday when I get to work, I will turn the block off.
Cool?
