If that is so, why is the 98,99,00,01, and 02 neons listed as less than reliable? Who knows.

Go click on that link though... the one posted by the kids who previously hated neons. Heh.

PS: there probably aren't that many with the original headgasket; they all probably blew out by now. Hehe.

CR and Reliability

Hello Gang
Ca$h... There are a good many of the Old Neons floating about. CR tends to be conservative only to apoint. Still They try to Give an un biased opinion which is what most shoppers are looking for.

Look at the Mess a few Years back when CR said one of Acura's cars was A rolling (literally) rolling as in side over side bomb waiting to happen. I forget which line it was.. ALso I think CR came down hard on another Isuzi car line that also like to Roll roll roll..
I remember Both automakers took CR to court and tried to get a retraction. The Automakers lost.. IN the end they did not want a press rating that said they built unsafe cars..
Cause well once put in the Autopress section it seems to take forever and a few days for it to be forgotten. If ever forgotten.

It was just that, A mess.....

So in comment to why are Neons not raved about.
Give a lil while longer. True they can be tinkered with until the bank account runs dry..

No on likes to be attacked and said there interest, opinions, perceptions, or Creations are piss poorly put together, half baked, or in acuras case UNsafe.

So Chrysler messed up a bit on the engine gaskets, They still caused Serveral 100,000's of people a HUGE headache. Plus serveral 100,000 more a headache down the road. So it was fixed. IF Subaru had produced a couple 100,000 SVX's all with bad transmissions.. Um Can you think of the what would be talked about many many many years on down the road about Subarus'? Just goes to show one bad apple in a car line seems to have Great power over what ppl think of the rest of the Automakers LINES. At least with the SVX there was only 28k of them for us to compalin about. OR drive and love.

NO matter what a person picks. It's theirs to love/hate.
WIth over 250 new cars hitting the pavement this year alone. THere are plenty of other things to love/hate.

Happy Drive'n

Let what go? We're having an informative conversation so far. I'm learning.... well... I'm sure that other people are learning a few things about neons. But here's hte common misconception: You have to throw a ton of money at them to make them fast. Wrong. They're kinda quick stock, and 2-3000 for an engine swap will build you a monster. 230hp TO THE WHEELS with just as much torque. Wu-ha!

Cash,

You are on the wrong board. Shouldn't you be here instead?

Neither do I. Frankly speaking, and I am doing that for myself only. I do not seriousely care about other cars apart from the SVX. Shouldn't it be a SVX forum? Not a GM forum?

Smack me if I am wrong.

Duh. This is an SVX forum, yet it seems to also deal with Deloreans, Cavaliers, and now neons. :P Yes, this topic was created souly about GM's Cavalier.

<<Deloreans>>

We deal with DeLoreans for a reason. We also deal with the XT (XT-6) AKA the Wedge for a similear reason.

As for GM cars, I have not have any idea as to why yet.
