What is the lucky vehicle that you will install it in if you are my winning biddder?

I think that we'd all love to see photos!

so what do you really do with it? How dirty is the air in the car? I'm not sure why you would even want it other then it being rare. Not trying to be a smart a$$ here, I just don't know what it would really do for you. Maybe if you ate a lot of baked beans...I dunno

Would be good for smokers, and yes; letting one rip after taco bell.

Are the filters for this readily available...something we can find off the shelf at our local hardware store? I'd find it very hard to believe subaru still stocks these...

They look like a reusable charcoal impregnated filter. The kind you can wash out and reuse.

I doubt if they are available anywhere though I have seen similar charcoal filter material elsewhere.

Re: Subaru SVX Alcyone *RARE* Cabin Air Purifier, Filter OEM New In Box JDM Complete

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290641995008...84.m1555.l2649

Curiosity got to me. I opened the box and checked out the filter - it is spongy and likely could be reused. There may already be a filter in the unit (I'm not going to open it up!~)and the one in the box is likely a spare.

There is what appears to be an ionizer behind the fan unit which would throw negative ions into the cabin of the SVX.

A few words on Ionizers: "When the air cleaner’s ionizer is turned on, voltage is applied to a series of built-in needles, creating electrons which are discharged into the air. When these electrons attach to air molecules, ions are formed.

These negative ions are dispelled into the room where they attach to dust, pollen, cigarette smoke and pet dander to form larger particles, which can more easily be trapped by your air cleaner's filters. However, these particles can also descend to the floor to be vacuumed later, or attach to positively charged surfaces in the room."

Interesting stuff! Especially in an SVX!

Not that big a deal. '92 and '93s didn't have the door lock switch at all.

Not hard to make a tiny hole, run wires through, and mount it.

I wouldn't replace the central locking, rather I'd mount the Off/Low/High Purifier fan switch on the other side of the shifter - give the passenger something to play with!
