Post Election
First of all, I am very happy that all of this election stuff is over.
Next is all of the bad news because of the Election. Here in Washington State, the liberal govenor was re-elected. Last term she raised the gas tax by $ .06 per gallon each year for 3 years to improve the roads here. Well, no improvements, but now that she is back for another 4 years, she wants to raise the gas tax $ .50 per gallon to do the same thing because the gas prices have now dropped and we can all afford the extra tax.  We already have the larges gas tax in the US, but this will make sure it is.

That sucks. But thanks to George Dubya, too many people out there are "afraid" of Republicans... I definitely would have voted for Dino Rossi if I lived in Washington. Our Democrat governor got re-elected in the last election, by a pretty narrow margin...

Come to Tennessee Earl ... paid $1.84 gal for gas yesterday and we have NO STATE INCOME TAX (but let's not talk about sales tax @ 9.25%).
I'll be over near Silverdale tomorrow for a week, so I'll be burning up left coast gas for my rental car.

Here we have NO sales tax, relatively low gas tax (24 cents a gallon IIRC), but we have a pretty high state income tax, and pretty high property taxes.
When I lived in Wyoming, we had no state income tax, low property taxes, a 6% sales tax, and a $1.1 billion SURPLUS (in 2004), with just under 500,000 people, in a state ranked 9th in size...
