Parted ways...

Sold my SVX last week, going to a good Subie home...guy who bought it is going to transplant a Legacy drivetrain into his Brat, so the SVX will assume daily driver duties while that project is being done...

With that being said, bought this as a replacement. At least replacement parts for this car won't be in the realm of "unobtainium", like they were for the SVX. Nice to have a manual transmission again too. Fun car to drive, won't win any races against modern hatchbacks, but it was the shiznit back in the day, lol!

It's a 1990 VW Corrado G60 with 111K miles. Supercharged 1.8L 8-valve, 5-speed manual, 4-wheel disc brakes, Enkei wheels with 205/45-16 tires, black leather interior, power sunroof, upgraded exhaust / cam / supercharger ductwork. The rear spoiler extends up at speeds above 45 mph, which for 1990 was a pretty unique feature. It can also be extended and retracted manually via a rocker switch on the lower dash. Was poking my head around the car, and the IC is fairly small, tucked behind the lower valance opening on the driver's side, so it gets fresh air very easily. I don't think I'm going to mess around too much with this car, maybe add cross-drilled rotors, new speakers, tint the windows, etc. Already ordered a set of Hella Xenon headlight bulbs, to match the whiter lights next to the headlights and the driving lights. If the headlight lenses get much more glazed, I'll just order new headlights, which should be a LOT easier to do than trying to replace SVX headlights.

Like the SVX, it's a unique car as it is, so it'll be more about maintenance upkeep and making sure it's always road-worthy. Sad to see the SVX go, but this G60 will be a very good replacement.

Re: Parted ways...

Very nice! I even like the color. Some cars look good in yellow and that's one of them. Ferrari and Corvette also.

I drove one back when they were new. Front wheel drive go kart! I recall that the suspension was too harsh for my tastes at the time.

This one has been lowered a bit, so you can imagine how harsh the suspension is! But boy does it like to go fast around those sweeping highway onramps and offramps! Really like working the short-throw shifter, just snicks into gear. Still have to make sure I'm in first and not third when taking off from a stop...don't ask...!
