New SVX Bonnet & Guard

Damaged my bonnet and left hand front guard on my 92 SVX due to an incident with a kangaroo last week ..... insurance company requires a brand new bonnet and LH front guard - does anyone know of any brand new ones in Australia?

Cheers,
Grant

Re: New SVX Bonnet & Guard

You have kangaroos all over the roads and here we have white tailed deer. I wrecked my bonnet, bumper and headlight 1 1/2 years ago hitting a deer. Luckily it flew up over the roof or the windshield would have been done too.

White / black 1992 model.

Insurance company have said that only brand new parts can be used for bonnet, front LH guard and LH external mirror - if none can be found, it will be classed as a write-off. Apart from the windscreen and a deep crease from the top of the windscreen to the sunroof, it looks only minor damage (also to bumper and rear spoiler as the roo came down off the roof). It will only be a write-off economically for the insurance company, rather then because of the extent of damage. Absolutely no damage mechanically. Altercation took place only a few hundred metres from Brady's house near Maitland.

Wow, that is such a beautiful looking car to be written-off, I would think that panel damage could be replaced by any second-hand ones you can get hold off.

Go tell the insurance company to get the front window first - then also tell them that it requires to have the window seals attached...watch them squim at - A the price / B the availability. (this one item may in fact be the true reason why they want it written-off) - do you have glass cover?.

Body panels are available here in NZ - I know of 3 on www.trademe.co.nz in the past month - sorry none are white......

Re: New SVX Bonnet & Guard

As far as I can tell from calling around there is only 1 windscreen available in Australia with windscreens o'brein, all the other companies have them as a deleted item. I just bought one for the green car (cost more then the car)

Re: New SVX Bonnet & Guard

Yes but does the glass come with the rubber - as OEM ones are heat bonded together.

See the other USA forum about the glass headache / heartache when you try & reuse the old rubber (on the new glass).

Dam Rubber F Glass It's $31.18 in the USA.
That's not the part in question. This has been gone over time and time again. The part that is needed is not available separately, only on an OEM windshield.

Re: New SVX Bonnet & Guard

Read my previous post. It only comes attached to an OEM windshield. There is no part#.
