I stumbled on these pics. Any thoughts?

These are probably emptied OEM struts with Bilstein cartridges and... stickers

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

Is this image helpful in identifying what is going on here? Were we aware of bilstein inserts being available?

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

Mike, if you pull an insert out and give them the specs I'm sure there is a bilstein which fits. Whether or not they ever marketed one as fitting the SVX is another question.

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

Penske Racing shocks are another option for inserts. I would suspect that WRX front inserts would work or be easily adapted for the rears. only difference i could find was the top threaded portion but that would be easily adapted if making a batch. Extended and compressed lengths are the same. Rebound and dampening would be different but that can be customized based on oil and seals.

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

Will the Penske or Bilstein inserts handle higher spring rates than the Koni's?

The Bilstein inserts can be had in any valving you desire for any spring rate, but pretty much need to be set up by Bilstein or a qualified service center. Penskes can be revalved by the end user quite easily for any spring rate. 200 lbs to 2000 lbs...no problem.

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

Do we have any part numbers from either of them for this?

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

What Bob said on spring rates. No there aren't any part numbers I know of for either but both companies "should in theory be able to make them if they have all the info they need as I already stated. Penske is somewhat local and a whole lot easier to deal with as they speak the same language as we do. Granted they would probably cost more but for a true custom race proven suspension you can't go wrong with 'em. Just be prepared to pay for what you get.

Buy those now .
Bilsteins were available in Japan for the SVX. I have a picture of a JDM car with a Bilstein decal on the front bumper

Re: Bilstein struts for SVX?

Over the years there have been a number of Liberty/Legacy models sold in Aust that come with the Bilstein units.
