MPG
Hi everyone, For this past summer my "92 SVX was driven 204.7 miles. When I filled up in preparation for putting her to sleep for the winter it took 7.295 Gal. giving 28.06 MPG. This would have been about 50/50 city/freeway. This was Shell premium and was $2.99 per gallon. The last time we took it on a vacation we got in the 30's but it was to long ago and I don't remember the exact mileage. Take care, BOBB

Re: MPG
Uurgh!! Just put my first full refill in my 92 SVX and calculated that I did 13.78 L/100Km which I thought was pretty good for around town driving.. that was until I did the conversions and realised it's only 17.15 mpg....

Re: MPG
Hi everyone, I've always gotten pretty good MPG with the SVX. I've used Shell gasoline as much as possible. The current gas has "Nitrogen" gas in the mix. It is supposed to keep your fuel system clean. Nothing gets me going like a clean fuel system. Take care, BOBB

Re: MPG
FWD Bobb? Best I"ve seen from my 94' AWD LSi is 25.345 MPG after a long trip to go camping. But have seen and aproximate 26.25 mid cruise but not by the time I filled up. I can judge where I"m at by the fact that my fuel guage is very reliable at 5g for 1/4 8 for 1/2 and 11 for 3/4 tank. Lately though it's been going down hill even if I baby it. but still over 20mpg so I'm happy but need to rebuild my engine or drop in a rebuild one.

Re: MPG
Here "Down-under" in New Zealand premium unleaded is 98 octane and standard is 91.. I always run with the 98.

Re: MPG
Quote:
It's possible to get 30 mpg from the SVX, so 17 is poor enough. When I ran mine daily I used get 20 to 22 in the city and 26 to 30 on a long run. You need to check on a few things. Naturally make sure your car is tuned well and all is kosher with the engine and the gearbox. Your car has extremely low mileage. It is possible your brake pads and pistons are sticking or binding through age and corrosion. Re-furbing the calipers will sort this. Another thing is watch the aircon. If you leave it on all the time it will have a heavy effect on the mpg. An additional change you could make is to the tyres. Use higher than recommended pressures. I use 34-30 or 35-31. Having the pressures too low can cause additional rolling resistance. This affects mileage adversely. Joe
