H-6 swapped into 2003 Baja

I know this isn't strictly a SVX question other than using the 6 cylinder from a SVX into a 2003 Baja, I have read in other areas on the net that the engine will fit as far as bolting up but the problem is getting the computer to work correctly. But to me it seems that the engine compartment in the Baja might not be long enough for the longer 6 to miss the fans and radiator. I don't really need to change it at the moment but the 6 is a lot more gutsy than the little 2.5. If anyone has had any experience along this line , I would appreciate any ideas.

Yes it will fit though just barely. TomSVX did it on an older Outcrap. Honestly though I think the SVX motor is a better motor I'd do a 3.0 conversion rather than the 3.3 as you just solved much of your computer issues (or at least I'd think you should). Then again, it would be far cheaper to simply buy a turbo BaHAHA and have more hp and about the same torque as you would with either the 3.0 or 3.3.

Then again, it wouldn't be nearly as much beer drinking while working.

There shouldnt be any computer problems as long as the harness is merged properly, only problems that may come up would be with the dash.

generally when u swap the 3.3 into somthing else u need to either custom mount your radiator and move it forward, or get a custom shorter radiator to move forward.

ill be puttin a eg33 in my legacy this spring. im having my friend do the wiring as he has done it for this swap before, and i plan on getting a custom radiator to move forward to allow space for the motor.

thanks for the response, I don't need to replace the engine just now but I have heard that the 2.5 isn't nearly as strong as the H 6 and I know the SVX I had before this one was plenty powerful , not so much on the take off but it wasn't hard to pass cars.. Now I know the swap can be done. Thanks again for all the replies.

I would go with the 3.0 or the 3.6 if you can find one. The 3.0 is slightly less powerful than the SVX motor, and the 3.6 is ~250hp. Also they are chain driven so there is no timing belt to mess with, and they were designed for the 4 cylinder engine bay, so you won't need to relocate stuff, just find an H6 outback. That would be a wicked project, especially if it was mated to a 5 speed

I wonder how much modification would be needed to put a 3.0 engine in the 2003 baja, will the computer work or how about the wiring and exhaust? my present engine is starting to get a little oil in the water. I know this is a SVX forum and I have one of those two.
