I Love My Car!

I know I haven't been around here very much over the last year or so, for that matter I really haven't driven Penny that much in the last year. I just checked the other day and we've actually only driven her less than 10K in the last 2 years. I've only had her oil changed an average of twice a year!

However......................

I got her a new set of tires, in anticipation of taking her on a 600-mile round-trip this weekend. Friday afternoon we left home headed for Laramie, WY for a wedding. The route we chose was about 365 miles, about 6 hours.

I LOVE MY CAR!!!!!!!!!

I had so much fun driving her! Especially when we were passing oil trucks. Several 90+ sprints, and one at 105!! And we still got 27 mpg! How's that for an almost 17-year-old car with 167K on the clock??

Did I say I LOVE MY CAR???!!!

My family and friends probably get sick of hearing me drone on and on about how the SVX is a fantastic highway car. I get 27+ mpg on the road, too, no matter how hard I drive, which strikes me as exceptional. They may be a bit world-weary, but mine sure seem to have a lot of life left.

Recently I told my daughter that I think of my silver SVX (which I got cheap and saved from obvious neglect) as a grateful thoroughbred horse rescued in the nick of time from the glue factory. She just rolled her eyes.

i used to get horrible city mileage, around 12-15; i dont do much highway driving
but then i bought the k&n filter recharge kit and it cleaned the filter exceptionally well
but anyway, after doing that, my mileage went from 12-15 to 17-20
so, keep your air filter clean

yeas i love my svx still. only get to drive her every 2 or so weeks but feels so fast and good lol

Hey Michelle, How's about you? as they might say in Belfast.

Your car is special, it deserves love. Your colour change is so apt, so appropriate and complementary for the SVX that it's a great pity that the factory did not use this combination. They would have sold more SVXs.

I'm like you, I'm putting next to no miles on my cars. Next month though I'm going over to England for our annual show. That could stick a thousand miles on the clock, and keep Jersey Girl limbered up.
