Washer's OK ! (whew)

That was close! For a while there, I thought I would have to resort to that new and improved, non-organic washer fluid. But, alas, the needle did the trick...

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so it never really gets too hot here. I take it that is a good sign as far as my SVX transmission is concerned? That being said (or asked), is a transmission cooler a good after market mod to invest in? I've noticed a lot of members' cars seem to be so equipped.

Driving report: I'm trying to abide by the Owner's Manual and not exceed 4,000 rpm until I have a thousand miles on the car. However, after golf today, I took the long way home on a beautiful, twisty mountain road in the East Bay foothills. I can report the SVX is no match for the Boxster, BUT, it still was fantastic! The handling is excellent and the brakes are superb. I'm obviously not telling anyone anything they don't already know themselves, but nonetheless, I was very impressed.

Falling in love, no doubt about it!

I'll post pictures soon...

Well, MuseumQuality, you put me in a perilous situation. At the risk of becoming the laughing stock of every member of this website, I'll answer your question. Yes, I am planning to post pictures of my SVX...

Oh, you mean that OTHER question $$$

O.K., here goes nothing... I paid $29,000. LET THE LAUGHING BEGIN!!!

Please, everyone, be gentle... I am really a pretty nice person. Honest.

No snickering here, Jeff. You still paid less than sticker price, & think of all the new parts you got! The rest of us are still jealous. Tell us when you "achieve" your first door ding & your comments upon finding it.
One question - what did you get for a warranty?
Ron.

Warranty? Or, lack thereof...

Actually, the dealership in CO. (Shortline Automotive) offered to sell me an extended factory warranty on the car, but I declined. Turns out, after having the car serviced at my local Subaru dealership in nearby Oakland, CA., I found out I can purchase this warranty directly from Subara America. Apparently, I have up to six months to decide before my option to do so expires.

I have established a pretty good relationship over the years with my local Subaru dealer because of my Outbacks, and it just so happens their service assistant manager is a Subaru SVX guru of sorts, so hopefully they'll go a little easier on me (right!).

Funny story - I took the SVX there for an "annual" service the day I picked it up from the transporter. There were the usual 100 or so Outbacks, Forrestors, a WRX or two and my lonely red SVX. The service writers and mechanics literally swamped my car! I felt like a celebrity or something. Is this what driving an SVX is always like? Pretty fun, so far...

Yes...It makes those common Boxters seem so...common.
You'll get your 29K's worth - guaranteed.
Enjoy, Ron.

great deal for the car.

i would immediately invest in the tranny cooler. it is like a seatbelt for your tranny. with a tranny cooler you will mostly likely never have transmission issues.

best of luck with the car.

$29,000.00

Wow,
In my personal opinion that is some kind of bargain. I know through my personal experience that I have spent half that this year alone in just repairs to mine I hope that you enjoy your purchase.
One question, you said the car had not been previously registered....Maybe I smoked too much CRACK, but, I was under the impression that the factory warranty on the car began the day the car is first titled...Would that not mean the factory waranty would begin the day you bought it!

just a thought!
