Throttle 101

Im cruising down the interstate at a comfy 80 or so when I notice that when I release the accelerator the car doesnt slow down... I get off the interstate with the car pulling hard against the brake, come to a stop and kill the ingnition.

I pop the hood and cant see anything out of the ordinary until I pop the TB cover off and find that one of the cables had popped off its track. Upon closer examination I find that BOTH cable brackets are loose. SO I just tightened them up and kept going.

Cottman did a wonderful job of putting my car back together eh? Thats one of three things they screwed up. My exhaust flange bolts, my gear selector adjustment, and now my throttle cables.

Im going over the car with a fine-toothed comb tomorrow. Why on earth they would need to disconnect my throttle to replace a front dif? no idea

To take the throttle body off and unbolt the TC bolts.

I don't think we disconnected the throttle when we installed my 5MT. We just unbolted the TB and swung it out of the way.

That is what I do as well. Not all who are not experienced with the SVX may go ahead and fully disassemble the TB for complete removal

well the only reason I went to them was because they were recommended by the subee dealer. Other than a few overlooked things Im enjoying the car again. I just need to get the solenoid C and the transfer clutch replaced and reinstall the rear driveshaft before I toast another dif.
