best lighting

ok one of my silver star light went poop so i disconnected the other one. it is daylight all the time up here so i got some time to replace. my brights are silverstars and still good so i will leave them be. i want really white lights. no blue or other funky colors so what should i get to replace. should i stick with the ss (that im not to much impressed with). or grab up a different brand. the ss brights are kick azz but the normals the shine is not the greatest. oh yeah is there a way of changing out the fogs in the lights with out taking apart whole light?

I like the silver stars in the brights. (9005) I use the modified 9005s in the low beams too because they are projector type, so it is ok. I have used the Sylvania Cool Blues (9005) for those. See the way to modify them in the How-To Documents if you are not familiar with it.

the 9005 (brights) bulb u have to shave out the two plastic peices on the inside by the pronges to plug in. with sharp knife or drimle or file. then on the outside of the light to put in socket there are three pieces that stick out to hold the light in place the top one has to be shaved to be thinner to fit. u will see what i mean by trying to put it in normal. then whala sorry if explination sucked.

How about the reverse lights they suck. What brighter bulbs can be put back there?

My local Advance Auto Parts carries a 50-watt bulb that fits in the OEM socket. I would be concerned about the adequacy of the wiring if you ever think you'd be in reverse for more than just backing out of a driveway. I have one 50-watt in one back-up lamp, the stock (1156?) in the other - it helped enough that I never went for two of them.

BTW, I have the Cool-Blue 9005 mod and the improvement was incredible. For people who haven't read about this mod before - please be aware this can only safely be used on cars that use a lens to focus the low-beam which the SVX has - to avoid blinding oncoming drivers.

I plan on doing the 9005 conversion when I get a free moment, have the bulbs, went with the GE Nighthawks (will post a review of em' afterwards), as they were cheaper then the Silverstars (which I put in MrsFlyrs Outback) and also picked up the 9005 socket to splice in, so there's less cutting on the bulb (have heat shrink to cover the wires once spliced in) in the future. Will change the fogs at some point (probably go with the SilverStars for that) and while I never thought about it before, will try the 50watts in the reverse lights (which do indeed suck) at some point.

Take out the liner inside the rear panel. This has small red strips going across the reverse light sections... dims them down a lot. Once removed or cut out, the lights are much brighter. I am thinking of replacing mine with high output lamps as well

I put in 50 watt halogen bulbs and they work like real back up lights.
