I agree with Harvey - you have classic symptoms of a worn high clutch. You're going to need a rebuilt. Try solenoids and coolers if you want, but you're going to be rebuilding it just the same.

56k miles is pretty early, but that's the SVX for you. When you do put a rebuilt tranny in (and I predict that that's what you're headed for), put in an aftermarket cooler. The SVX's tranny is fine - it's not 'weak' or 'problematic.' It was just not provided with sufficient cooling by Subaru.

Sorry, but I think a rebuild is the only thing you're in for.

Thank Mr. Pockets for the info, I might be looking into converting it to awd and putting a manual conversion, let see what the future holds for me. I did notice something weird, I was driving the car around the block, and it started slipping, so I pressed the gas a little for the power light to come on and it caught 3rd gear right away, I couldnt shift to 4th because I had no more street left, I had to brake, anyone have experience with this?

I would call that normal for a worn clutch. Slips under low pressures, still grabs okay under higher pressures. Don't worry - it won't grab in either situation soon enough.

As I understand it, 'power' mode affects not only the shift points but also the hydraulic pressure used to shift.

Because I enjoy making fun of people in unfortunate circumstances.

Of course not.

I was, however, making a little light of the situation.

All this tranny failing stuff sucks. And it sucks that it happened for him at 56 K. Why could it have happened to early and the rest of us have fine tranny's? Thats what i dont get.
