Question Ghost in My Machine (Alarm Q)

My alarm will occasionally beep loudly once whenever it feels like it. I've tried to figure out why but I cannot get it to reproduce the beep. It is a single loud beep, as if I were to hit the horn button not like the beep you get when you set the alarm. I know our alarms are weird, anybody have this problem? Anybody know how to possibly fix it?

Is the beeping related to the temperature outside? Like, have you noticed a threshold beyond which it does this? The reason I ask is that the dash in the SVX tends to expand a lot when heated. It's not unheard of for the dash to pop loudly (it does in my car) and even set off the alarm. I seem to remember one member whose dash popped and set off his alarm so much while he was on vacation that his neighbors had the car towed. It was dragged, not put on a flatbed, and the transmission was wrecked.

Anyway, that single beep you're hearing may be the alarm's 'warn away' signal being tripped by the popping. As I said, it's not unheard of.

I bet they were not a happy camper when they got home. Is the neighbor still alive?

Hmmm....

It could be the heat since its been about 90 around here the past few days and thats pretty much when it started. I had forgotten to put my windshield covers in so it was probably pretty hot in there. I put them in today and no beeps since. Thanks, I never would have thought of that.

I sprayed silicone in the dash cracks and the pops went away.

My alarm will usually beep in the middle of the night. As you say, just one single beep and then quiet. I have never heard the beep during the day, just at night. Usually it happens when I wake up in the middle of the night and then fall back asleep. (I said what?) I wake up say at 2:00 am, hear the beep and fall back asleep. I figure it's just the cars way of saying "Yeah I'm okay go back to sleep." Also reinforces the car and driver relationship I (think I) have. But then again how would I know if it goes off when I'm asleep? Maybe it's just a rodent looking for a wire dinner or the car wants to go.

I have turned up the sensitivity on the shock sensor two years ago. Sometimes if the horn starts blowing it makes enough vibration to keep the the car shaking and the alarm blowing the horn. My neighbor did complain about that, so, I turned the alarm off.

Hi guys! My car does the same. In fact it did about 10 minutes ago. Where I work I can hear it go off about 2-3 times per day. It's probably 75-80 degrees here the car is in direct sunlight. It usually does it between 2 and 4pm. My only doubt if this theory though is that my dad told me he heard it go off late last night 3-4am. That has happened before too. Could it be because it gets cold at night and the dash shrinks???

Thanks,
Nick

This only happens on the car with the extra 37HP and when there exists, a very good Karma relationship between the car and driver.

Yup. It happens mostly in the middle of the afternoon and/or the middle of the night, when the temps in the car are at the furthest from average.

I guess the question remains what to do about this ? Or should we just go with the "karma->love" theory and live happily ?
