Colin,
What brand of gas do you buy? |

I must admit that I buy whatever I'm near, so it's usually just generic gas..

Generic gas is less money for a reason.
Try the high priced name brands for awhile. Burn that stuff that the others guys will not put there name on to the bottom of the tank and then get some good stuff, at least two tank fulls to see if it goes away. That would be less expensive in the long run. Eh? If that doesn't help I am thinking your injectors are leaking while your car is sitting which means the pressure in the fuel rail is not bleeding down and the injector drips and floods the cylinder. |

I don't know if it's the same thing but I've had a few starts that were very similar to that described earilier. But I have had them happen from +25C (+77F) down to -30C (-22F). The only common conditions that I could come up with were that it was sitting for more than 2 days and on a slight incline.
I talked to my subaru mechanic and he said that some of the early legacy's had a similar problem on occaision if conditions were right, including position of the cams. It was the hydraulic lifter(s) that would slowly leak and it would take a few seconds for the pressure to build and timing for that cylinder to come back to normal. Again this might not be the same problem that was addressed but it's something to think about or look into. |
