Re: EGR valve

Just a quick update, I did take the SVX by and had it inspected. Whoever told me that the CE light didn't matter was correct. The tech said that since it was OBDI that he'd have to test the emissions directly so the CE light didn't matter. He hooked up the machine, and the emissions were fine so I got my sticker.

Lookin4svx, when you stick those hoses in the seafoam can are you supposed to then start the engine and have it sucked thru

I have no idea, I have never seafoamed anything.
I just found that random pic on my HDD in a folder called "seafoam" inside my svx folder.
Just that 1 pic was in the folder, no instructions.
I guess I assumed the instructions would be on the can.

Re: EGR valve

There's videos of people doing it all over youtube, but every engine is built different, therefore every engine must be seafoam'd differently. Anyone here done it? I can always just put some in my gas tank, but if there's a way it'll get to that EGR quicker/better I'd be all over it.

Ok. So you're throwing a code for the EGR solenoid and you want to clean it out? Just follow the lines in the vac diagram on the previous page and you'll see what to do. As long as the fluid moves through the EGR solenoid (# 11 in the diagram) it ought to get cleaned out.

Re: EGR valve

After picking the vac tube you want to use the easiest method to doing this will be to use up (pour into the fuel tank or another container) all the fluid in the can except what you want to go through the vac system, I think the can says to run about 1/3 of the can through the vac lines.
Then at that point you will start your engine let it idle while it is idling you will pull the vac line you chose and stick the end of it into the seafoam can but be warned it will almost instantly flood out the engine if you just hold the line in the liquid of the can your best bet for sucking all the liquid up is to bob it up and down into the liquid till the liquid is gone or when almost completely gone submerge the line so that you suck up the remaining liquid and at the same time it floods the engine so it kills it, then you wait the recommended ( i think 5 mins) then restart the car, that gives the seafoam a chance to sit in the vac and intake passages dissolving any build ups.
