Exclamation Oh crap... help please?

So yeah, having a few problems over here. What is this mess of stuff?

My hoses are hard as rocks and one of the plastic attachments broke off one of these two things here. Also, trying to get the hard lines off all four bolts sheared.

Is this the EGR stuff?

Oh, I'm taking it off because I was removing the intake manifold. I am going ahead and replacing the head gaskets while I've got it all apart.

Help Please!

These four 10mm bolts are the ones that sheared

Yeah, that's your EGR valve. Soak all your bolts with some good penetrating oil, but I'd plan on getting some stainless steel bolts to replace those with since you live in the rust belt. Once you get the head off, a reverse drill bit and the proper size easy-out will probably work to get those bolts out, but soak them with some rust penetrant first.

I would think it's a PITA to get to without the motor out, but here's a picture of the whole thing

From the back of the motor:

Sorry my little circle is kinda hard to see, but it lives behind and under the main wiring harness connectors. The connectors actually are attached to a bracket that is a part of the whole EGR mess.

Re: Oh crap... help please?

Something similar happened to me when I pulled my motor a couple months ago. I think just one of those bolts broke though. I was going to swap those parts to a JDM motor, which don't have an EGR. Needless to say I just left the JDM motor as it was.
When I lived in Duluth I didn't remember MN having emissions inspections. You could just plug the exhaust manifold and intake holes and leave the EGR off...

Btw, I have zero EGR related codes.
