VIN question
My VIN is confusing me. JF1CX3531NH109451
I've been through the decoder in the How-To's, so I know what it all means. The part that's confusing me is the last 4 numbers. As I recall, the last 4 gives the production number for the model year. Were there 9451+ SVXii built in the 92 model year? The cars101 site says the total sales in 92 was 5,280 cars. If you include Canada, and probably Japan as well, you'll still be well short of 9500. Anyone?

In November of 1991 they were up to 6940 (mine) and that was considered a '92. Maybe 1991 production was considered separate?

Hmmm...maybe that digit before the last three has something to do with production runs then. Or maybe not, I really have no idea. The VIN is valid in any case. I registered the car legally after all.

Is yours a US or Canadian car? 8738 were produced in 91 & 92 for the US. Additional cars were produced for Canada. (466) That may be why the number is higher.

Canadian as far as I know. Carfax says it's always been in Canada, plus it has all the Canadian features (block heater, daytime running lights, KPH speedo...)
8738+466 = 9204 though, still short of what my VIN would indicate.

They may have shipped to another country before Canada.
