Crap

So yesterday I drove the SVX to Portland cuz my wife and I wanted to visit her gramma in the hospital.. We got there and as I was turning a corner, I heard this THUMP THUMP THUMP coming from under the car, that only happened under power, and only when I was turning.... So I put the FWD fuse in, problem went away, and today at work I put the car up on the lift, and this is what I see:

Good news is, my "wheel bearing" turned out to be that the retaining clips broke for the inner fender liner in the rear, and the plastic was rubbing on the tire, which I fixed Now Patrick needs to get home so I can go get a drive shaft from him lol

Guess the squeaking noise I was hearing before this happened wasn't the rubber in the carrier bearing it was my stinkin U joint!

Hey i'm sorry for the noobness but what am I looking at? I have the same problem, when I turn and hit the pedal I hear the "tok tok tok tok" (me trying to describe the sound). But I just turn with no gas it's fine.

Lucky that thing (front u-hoint on the drive shaft for the newb) didn't come apart and destroy some things. I had a rear fly apart on me in a different vehicle and flatten the brake and fuel lines. That made me wonder as the truck started vibrating like crazy and then the motor dies and won't start. So much for the date I was on at the time as my dad came w/ a tow bar to pick me up and take her home.

Remember the pics I showed from the Claret I got about 3 months ago?
The front u-joints went out on the PO and it thrashed around and broke the tail shaft housing IN HALF.
You were lucky this time

Yeah, once it started making noise I put the FWD fuse in, and after I discovered that (I thought it was just a loose bolt, since it was vibrating the EXACT same way my truck did when the carrier bearing came loose (Shop forgot to run the bolts down that secured it to the frame) I left it at work and got a ride home (Cuz I did not want to snap the tail shaft off, or worse lol...

Tomorrow I'm gonna go get a drive shaft from nextse7en :-)

And I will yet again miss seeing your SVX.

Meh, one day it will happen, in the mean time I'm gonna make you jealous with my 4.44s and stage one.

THANK YOU for making this thread

I have been hearing the same thing ever since I purchased my SVX 2 weeks ago.

Under power and only when making a sharp turn (forward or reverse) I kept hearing this thud thud thud from my rear end.

Tonight I went out. Let the car warm up, and thew in the FWD fuse.

I own sharp turns with that fuse in.

This weekend I'll throw it up on some jacks and check the U-joints while I change the rear diff fluid out.

Any other suggestions in case I dont see the U-Joint in the conditions as yours?

Hey here's a question, if I take turns w/o gas (I accelerate before the turn vs power through it to prevent the knocking sound) is that still causing damage or furthering damage or anything like that? I'm in a position where I need to drive short trips constantly... until I figure something out on getting this fixed. (maybe 5-10 min drives max every two days or something like that.. i'm a college student)

baby it and you should be okay...worst case is that it gives out all together and you end up with the driveshaft on the road
