So THAT'S why I had no AWD

I guess my C went out leaving it in 4WD and stressed this baby out a little too much. Fortunately I was able to yank the one out of my spare tranny and slapped it all back together and it's all good now. Just in time for the rain.

What are you going to do with the old one? They have been saved by drilling holes through the gear and bolting it back together. My dad has done it as well as LAN.

I was going to keep it for show and tell for awhile and then toss it. You want it Dave?

it is the inner drum of the AWD transfer clutches... I have dealt with many a 4eat's ... LAN sheered his off with pure power...most of the time it is a malfunction in the awd system.

I shoved it back in my spare tranny and took a photo so you can see where it normally resides. I just grabbed on it and yanked and it slid right out. Hardest part of the whole job was being patient enough to scrape off all of the gasket material for the extension housing. Took me about an hour and a half just on the gasket.

Sure, we could offer this as an exchange service. We'll fix them and everyone else keeps sending us their broken ones.
