Very well done. You've got more guts than I.
Don't sell that "L" (what I have), keep it for spare parts. You're daring research will be more valuable in the future as the spare parts are used up... |

I've been wondering if the low beam lens that Doug affectionately refers to as the 'blob' would be interchangeable with the same from a late model Chrysler. As I've been working on a few lately I've been thinking about what he said about the lens chipping/breaking/cracking and was just thinking that a newer car would have less damage. I may have to call a few body shops and/or junkyards.....

I was at the dealer (selling my red SVX today) and I was looking at the lense from the Mazda Miata. I have a feeling that all the cars might have a similear blob. It's not the blob that we need replacement. It's the way the blob is mounted. There blob just sits on the plastic holder and gets squished by a metal guard. Whenever you run over a bump, you will scrap the blob. We have to find a way to stop the blob from scratching. How? we have to open up other projector beams I guess. Lwin

<<I was at the dealer (selling my red SVX today)>>
So is it sold? Excellent job on the documentary. Other than the picture of me after cleaning all morning. The blob on Lwin's car wasn't in bad shape, probably because of the lower miles than mine. If anyone has a low milage car, I strongly urge you to open up your headlights and silicone that sucker in. Just a little cushion will give you a much longer life on your headlights. Doug

Very nice directions on How-To-Do the head lights.
How long does it take to do one light? What happens if the the 'Blob" continues to chip and is not held in tight? Anyway to get that "heat glue" out of there and use silicone to seal the clear cover back on? And one more...... Any idea how long this will last before it has to be done again? Thanks |

Mine has a ton of problems. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a moneytree. I do not want to fix the SVX anymore. I just want a SVX that has no problems. And (knock on wood) I have one for now. Lwin.
