Question Small Car Shift Kit

Ok now that my auto is dead I'm deciding to put in a 5 speed. I would must likley buy the small car kit. My question is: have there been any problems with this kit? Was it extremly hard to install or did it just take time and patience. Will the 5 speed eliminate the transmission overheating problems, will I need any additonal parts that are not included in the kit, and about what would the total cost of the complete conversion be? Thanks and if anyone has any words of caution please let me know now before I dish out all that cash.

ok I have passed on buying the whole Small Car kit and instead am going to buy the do-it-yourself kit from them for $299. I found a WRX tranny w/ only 38k miles that I will be trying to buy this week. Is it true that a new differntial won't be needed w/ the WRX tranny? Will the pedal assembly from the WRX fit in the SVX, and are there any parts that won't work from the WRX and that I will need to get from another donor car? I am getting really excited about doing the conversion and can only imagine a SVX w/ a 5 speed WRX transmission.

the 5 spd will eliminate the tranmission overheating issue, as it is solely due to inadequate cooling for the automatic trans...
Good luck with your transplant - check the site for fellow 5 speeders (Subafreak, Mohrds, Huck (the father of the 5 spd mod), etc.)

I know this is way OT, but since it got mentioned... do either of you from Syracuse own a white SVX? with aftermarket rims? I went out to visit my g/f at SU and when going out for breakfast noticed a white one. I'm tempted to relocate out that way... any info you all got about the area, just PM me... I'd love to know more. Aww heck, I'll just start a thread in the non-svx forum!

Hey, We've got to do a Mini-meet, 3 of us in Syracuse?! How about Thursday. Downtown? Umm is everyone 21????

PS, I do have a MIG welder and a sawzall. which I've heard makes a 5 speed swap easier. Write me at ww111@yahoo.com We'll chat
