It's been awhile. Your harness has all the wires while the scosche is missing one. I didn't bother patching it in, since it didn't seem to make much difference. The "illumination" wire and "Dimmer" wires scale the voltage inversely when you actuate the dimmer control. The "Illumination" wire causes the radio to dim inversely with the control. The "Dimmer" wire dims correctly. It might have been better to patch in the missing wire, but I was out of patience! Also, for anyone considering this, pin14 is not, in fact, an amp trigger.... just an antenna trigger. It turns off (lowering the antenna) when selecting CD or Tape. This would not be helpfull as an amp trigger.

Thanks, that's very helpful (and I'll go edit my previous post).

The SVX's Illumination wire is simply either 'on' (+12volts, when the parking or headlights are on) or 'off' (0 volts). It doesn't change when you rotate the dimmer ring.

The Dimmer wire does change as you rotate the dimmer ring, and as CJ said, the voltage goes 'backwards' -- nearly 12 volts for dimmest to 0 volts for brightest. The dash lights actually connect between this wire and +12 volts, not ground.

One of those wires scales in tandem with the dimmer ring, while "Dimmer" scales inversely. I don't remember, at this point, what that other wire was. It might be worth pulling my radio out and patching in that other wire though. Only the panel lights up, not the buttons. I don't know if this is normal for these radios or not.

Does the WRX radio happen to have any RCA preouts?

Not RCA. It may have pre-outs on the other Molex connector, but I don't know.

WRX reverse harness

There have been enough people installing WRX CD Changers in SVXs that I've decided to start making harnesses to fit those too. Mine will have all 14 wires (with both the orange and orange/white wires). Watch the "Wanted or For Sale" forum for details.
