My SVX is one of the few auto trans cars I've ever driven. I have a hard time imagining autocrossing with it's weird shift points.
I ran mine in 1 most of the time, there was one long straight where I would shift to 2, but right back into one after that. The courses I race at are usually smaller, so they are a bit lower speed and very technical.

They both do fairly well. Both have some body roll. The RS is a bit better at it though.

If you want to adhere to the rules 100%, the RX-7 wheels push the car to Street Touring, and any tires wider than 225 take it to STX/STU. It's pretty much suicide.

Local chapters might not mind, because if you're in G Stock with the Mini Cooper S, you're probably not walking off with trophies, anyway!

Re: Autocrossed on Sunday

The 6 speed swap put me into street mod, so its pretty much irrelevant.

That is exactly what makes me wish that there were an option between them.

A car based on the BL Legacy, or the 08+ Impreza, which are both similar...

A coupe on that platform, with Legacy's comfort level, and WRX STI's performance under the hood and under the chassis, and between 3000-3300lbs... an H6 option for the street. (hey, if Genesis coupe can offer 6 cylinders or turbo 4, why not Subaru offer that in a coupe, plus the advantage of AWD traction.)

Although not quite as really compact as the GC, but nearly as nimble, and quicker than STI with the reduced weight of the bodywork.

Not really as heavy and large as the SVX, but still as uniquely stylish, comfortable inside, and well equipped when optioned up...

Throw on a fastback hatch for a 3-door, with an optional rear brace like 350Z... (stiffened for performance, or left off for practicality.)

It is a bullseye that Subaru should have hit. Think of the Autocrosser such a car could be, while still being a useful street car.

But anyway... the Subarus on the track look good as they are.

Doesn't the Genesis offer a V8??? Or was that just a thought in pre-production. Haven't kept up on it much since I first saw something about it a couple years ago.

Edit: just searched and found the answer. That v8 in the coupe would be pretty sweet though...
