I normally don't much care about fuel economy, but when I've checked on the highway, have gotten 22-24mpg. never check city. I don't use premium either, use 89 octane ethonal 10% blend. Always runs fine.

I get about 16-17 in town, with Chevron premium, highway mileage is about 24 or so. Things to check that will contribute to bad mileage:
Spark plugs Air filter Fuel filter dirty MAF (I clean mine off with MAF cleaner when I change the air filter) oxygen sensors I know that last one is expensive since there are two (three on OBD2 cars) but if you take care of at least the first four, you should see an improvement. And use QUALITY plugs, Champion/Autolite = CRAP, Bosch plugs aren't worth the extra dough either, I'd use NGK or Denso... I changed the plugs and air filter on my dad's Jeep, and cleaned the throttle body, and he went from 16 to 18 MPG... I've been putting off changing the plugs in the SVX but I really need to see what's in it, as for all I know it has some old worn out Autolite plugs in it.

i recently changed 5 of the 6 spark plugs with NGK platinums
also things to look for/check: tire pressure codes i think im due to reset some codes...one of those things you say you'll do, but never quite get around to doing

21 average
city driving with the power light on allot Highway driving is usually around 4K rpm I could get allot better if I tried, but I just can't seem to drive conservatively. +1 for the NGK's

About 16 around town. Have gotten up to 26 on a trip up to San Francisco. Got around that on the cross-country trip, too.

As posted elsewhere a couple of weeks ago:
These are the numbers for my silver SVX since February 29 of this year: Gallons Pumped: 43.5 (19.61 regular, 10.07 midrange, 13.82 premium) Miles Driven: 895.8 Fuel Mileage: 20.59 mpg The best I recorded was a 134.7 mile boulevard/highway run: 27.6 mpg. Most of my driving is trips of <12 miles, on curvy, hilly roads. Tires are fairly new and slightly over-inflated. I don't mat the gas when the light turns green but do run at or above prevailing traffic speeds. Both cars are in decent repair but not obsessively maintained. I'd suspect anyone getting substantially worse mileage must either have a mechanical problem or be flogging the snot out of the car. dcb |

Best Recorded MPG: 31.1 (all highway on rt 80 going to western PA)(In the Claret)
Present MPG (in the Pearlie) 19-23 mixed driving. I take it easy, as the cam seals leak.

Today I filled up, and the past week with a mix between city and highway driving I achieved 23.12 mpg.

With both the Claret and Killer Tomato I range from 20-28 depending on city/highway. I average about 23/24MPG with mixed highway and city. That is with 4.44 too. When my Claret was stock it was about the same. I haven't taken the FWD SVX on a long enough trip (with the new trans) to calculate gas mileage.
