Ebony is home...... Finally.

Well it took a month to get the title straightened out, but it was finally taken care of this week. I went to pick the car up today and after an eventful time it is finally home and in the driveway. The trans would rarely leave 1st all the way home so needless to say the 65 mile trip took A LOT longer than it should have. I have no room to complain though I am now back to a 2 SVX garage with a combined price for both cars sitting at $1025... I will wash it in the AM and get some pics up..

And for what it is worth.... This is the plan for the car this summer...

1.) replace trans with stock 4EAT & trans cooler
2.) new belts and crank pulley
3.) sandblast and paint all other pulleys
4.) get wheels painted OEM silver and put on forwards
5.) new alternator
6.) flush coolant, rear diff, oil change, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs
7.) OEM rear struts and all suspension bushings replaced (e.g. $15/ 15min mod)
8.) rotors, ss lines, and pads
9.) I am also going to try my hand at bodywork on this car as it has a couple chips on the hood and some clear coat flaking on the bumper. If it works out, great... If not then it will still look better than it does now.

For minor touch ups I found a Duplicolour rattle can that is an exact match to the red-flaked ebony. It's called "Subaru Black Mica". I used it to paint my spoiler and am doing my wiper arms right now.

What about a clear coat on top of it? Or is it a high gloss paint?

Is it the 947 mica ruby or 952 mica black that matches?

It's #8801343, Subaru Mica Black.

For a good finish you would need a quality clear. It came out pretty shiny on my wiper arms, but they're a lot smoother than the primered surface of my spoiler was. Surface prep is a big thing, you'll see absolutely every flaw.

It's the 952 Mica Black, part # 8801343. It even has the red metalic flakes that the OEM paint has.

You'll be able to see my spoiler at Reading if you're curious. It came out a bit orange-peel looking, but I think that's mainly due to my ineptitude with auto paint. I used some Duplicolour clear on it. I think a good wetsanding/buffing would bring out a lot more shine.

I'll probably be using a few cans to cover some fender rust up this week. I could only find it in 5oz cans, and they don't last long. It took me 3 to do my spoiler.

I'm gonna order a few cans of both. My ebony was repainted long before I bought it and from what I have been told it is a legacy ebony mica color. It has much more red in it than a normal svx ebony. Thanks!

What a beauty, and incredible deal... I want a picture of it next to mine to compare color.
