Stebro Exhaust Install Woes

Just got my Stebro Exhaust today and I've got the gasket "issue."

Can you all please post your workarounds/fixes? I read another thread that addressed the situation, but I didn't get a real clear idea on the best way to take care of it.

Right now the exhaust is at my dealership. Would I be better off taking it to a muffler shop? I'm in the Augusta County area (live) as well as the Albemarle County area (work) here in Virginia if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Fixes

I believe that Stebro has changed the mounting area at the front of the longer center section, so anything in here on mounting might be outdated. Didn't they send an installation kit with the system to include gaskets?

Nope, just the two sections and that was it. Believe me, it was no fun scouring through the garbage to make sure I didn't miss anything in the packaging...

The gasket is a common doughnut looking one. You probably would be better of at a muffler shop.

Problem Solved

For anyone that needs a gasket for the Stebro system in the future, a 2 9/16" inside diameter donut exhaust gasket will do the trick. NAPA Part# is 31508.

Hope this helps future installs.

Sounds sweet!

Glad it worked out for you! It is one SWEET sound, especially in the 1500~2000 rpm range and again in the 3500+ rmp range!

Enjoy~~

I just got my exhaust today, and was told by stebro that all factory subaru gaskets will work,so I hope that is right since I bought them...The rear "bearing gasket being $58!!! I also got the converter from them since mine is starting to leak.It will bolt up just like the factory, has dual inlet's and single out.But there is no oxygen sensor hole. I plan on calling them tomorrow, but has anyone else installed their cat? Do I have to take it to have someone weld one in? Hmmmmm

There isn't a sensor on the earlier models. Our 96' has it, the '92s don't.

Bought the Euro Resonator myself as we don't have emissions testing.

That is what I figured....I called Stebro, and was told the template they used was for a 94. So I have to send the cat back, with a marking to show where the sensor is located and they will weld one in for me...So I guess it's a couple of more weeks for me before I get it done

I also got the euro resonator,I have not matched it up under the car,but Stebro said the pipe was the same as the factory in length. I am taking all the parts to work with me tomorrow to hopefully install the resonator and muffler for now, until I get the converter back from having the O2 sensor bung put in. I AM DYING TO HEAR WHAT THIS SYSTEM SOUNDS LIKE!!!

Re: Stebro Exhaust Install Woes

I'm sorry to bump such an old thread, but I ran into the same problem this weekend when installing my new stebro. I found a gasket which was a perfect fit and was available at my local autozone.

I thought this information would be useful to those who have this issue in the future.

PS - I forgot how great these things sound. Wow!

Did you buy the resonator specifically for a 96 or 97? The mounting is different for 96/97 over all other year SVXs.

LOL--see this part is very old. Am curious how his mounting went if for his 97.
