I was close enough - and first.

I mean, come on - who can keep track of the dozen or so variants of the 911 that are introduced every year?

The second article on this page will help illustrate my point:

http://www.sniffpetrol.com/issue042.html

There's some langage on that site, so if you're offended by four letter words, don't bother.

You were close and first!

However, there is a big difference between Mitsu lancer and an Evo.

This convertible model is very different from a 911 Carrera!

-Chike

P.S. I found that site kinda funny actually!

I think very few of the 911 variants differ from eachother as much as the Evo does from the Lancer it's based on.

Oh, c'mon...you must know the answer by now!

In terms of performance, the base lancer is light years away from the Evo. And you're right, Porsche's are much closer to each other in performance.

Cool I was looking over...

...my old car mags to see if anyone had tested a 911 Turbo with the X50 package and in the 8/03 Road & Track 0-100-0 challenge they did.

They tested the coupe version (~100lbs lighter than the new convertible), and got:

0-100 8.8s (w/ a 0-60 of 3.8)
100-0 4.2s

For a total time of just 13.5s over a total distance of 1147ft (included a 0.5s transition from accel to braking)!!!

Eight other cars were tested (Viper SRT-10, RS6, E55 AMG, 575M Maranello, SL55 AMG, Lambo Murcielago, Saleen S7 & Enzo Ferrari) and the only car that beat it was the Enzo which did the deed in 11.7s (0-100 of 6.9, 100-0 of 4.0 with a 0.8 transition)!

I'm sorry, I just had to share...

-Chike

P.S. I would love to take a ride in that car, but my VP is kinda snobby and aloof...
