there's a thread on NASIOC where a guy threw a 2.5L LGT turbo engine in an older Impreza L wagon. hell of a sleeper, but the car kinda looked like crap. seemed like a waste unless he got the engine EXTREMELY cheap.

Im sorry that in being a goofball you mentioned that a 928 is probably faster because of its 172mph top speed. Its impossible to hear sarcasm on the internet so i had to assume you had no clue what you were talking about.

Tom, I agree it is not economical for 99.99% of svx drivers but our community in itself is alot less open to mods like this or else it would have been attempted by now. Is someone that can afford a fire damaged rx7 or a NA 300zx really that much more wealthy than the average svx'er. I know some of us have dropped alot more into our cars than we even want to add up.

This sucks! This is something I would've liked to have had done on my Outback Sport Wagon. It is just begging for a strong engine.

get the R180 and rear axles. 3.90 drive ratio and will hold up to 500hp reliably 600 if you are lucky

Not to beat a dead horse but......

I will be picking up a SVX with a blown tranny and a motor that is on the way out. The rest of the car is in good shape. I do not want to part it out at all. I was thinking about this swap and have been toying with the idea for a while, but the 2 svx's that I currently have are not going this route. 1 will be N/A and the other will have ECUtunes S/C kit. I do not want to hear from people who don't like the idea of a V8 in a SVX. I would like to hear cold hard facts on the possibilities. I think that I will probably use a carb'd motor for the simplicity of wiring. I drove a friends '88 RX-7 with a 5.0 carb'd mustang motor. The same kid also has a 350 in a saturn SC2000. That was sick. The SVX can be down for however long the swap may take as it is down as we speak due to the tranny.

A Tuned port set-up will be more likely to fit under the hood, and you can buy pre-made wiring loom for a GM Tuned port motor through Summit.

Getting a carbed motor with a breather on it would probably require a hood scoop

hucks right. unless you want an airfilter sticking out of the hood your going to need to spend the extra$ for harness and ecm on a tpi/lt1. I think the lt1 is lower as far as intake goes but the harness is an extra 300 bux or so and then you have to worry about ecm programing for perfection. TPI would be alot cheaper...if you go FI. I would also look into the oil pan for the S10 V8 swap...its got a big cavity in the middle of it for the cross member.

how about "svx squared" ??

take fwd svx and drop another 3.3/auto in the rear.......?

the purists will appreciate the all subey approach

and it'll be unique !!

and when u want more power.......drop in 2 wrx motors.....

a nice bone stock 460 hp would be a good start in a 4000lb car (i'm being realistic, by the time u strip everything u can out of the car and THEN add a LOT of steel to stop it from twisting like a pretzel....)

then ya just tweak the motors.....800 hp +4000lbs is sounding a lil better eh?

for god's sake, dont ask it to stop or turn a corner though.........

LOL

honestly, wouldnt the cheapest/easiest solution be to just install the right pistons/rods/rod bolts etc
and turbo the crap out of the 3.3 and install a manual transmission?

then again........this isnt about being cheap or easy is it?

alternative engines.........hmmmmmmmmm...........
how about a 911 turbo motor?

same flat 6 configuration
LOTS of hp.........

but the brake/suspension budget would be shot !!

Prettymuch. If I wanted a retarded fast svx, Id probly start by hand designing and fabricating a tubular steel frame, suspension components, ect.
Then linking two svx engines up in series, mounting it to the frame
Use a rear mounted tranny (Something along the linesl of a porche 944 tranny)
Have a professional create a fiberglass svx body custom fab mounts for it to attach to the frame. Id also have tabs and stuff for the door panels and interior peices
Hell, being its a custom frame and body, and suspension, then I midaswell run some retarted wide tires. Ooh, and if it isnt fast enough, two of lan's stage 3 kits would pep it up a bit

Of course, I would probly need quite a bit of cash to do that...that and Where the hell would the rads fit?

Probly better off just making the eg33 a little more powerfull, and mabey shaving some weight off the car. I mean, honestly, it seems to me counter productive to spend an absurd amount of money and time on a drivetrain that puts out just a little more power than a worked eg33 (With a weight diffrence to negate any gains too)

And if anyone thinks the eg33 doesnt have any power potential, just do a search for Frank Aragona Jr.

If you want to keep the weight down, how about a Caddy Northstar V-8...it's all aluminum and 4 valves per cylinder...

How easy could a transverse engine be mounted into an AWD longitudinal layout?

Is there an AWD GM transmission that could maybe bolt to the Northstar?
