headlights
i find that my headlights aren't bright enough for my liking. my question is, i am putting aftermarket bulbs in. i think they take 50watt, would i do any harm if i put in 100watt bulbs?

You may so I would recommend getting an aftermarket harness like this one: http://suvlights.tripod.com/suvlight...re-harness.htm You could build you own, but the price is so low, I wouldn't bother to take the time.
It is really cheap insurance. Also, make sure to aim your headlights properly after installing the new bulbs. With non stock bulbs, don't trust the bubble levels, use an aiming wall to properly aim the headlights. Doug

Just upgrade the harness. It will improve power delivery over the stock circuitry.
I made my own heavy duty harness before I found that site that sells them and I only run stock bulbs. Doug

since his 95W bulbs could do that I can almost guarantee that 100W bulbs would do the same thing if they are both of the same types. (halogen with the same color temperature) This is assuming that his bulbs were really using 95W and yours will use 100W. There can be a good bit of variation. If his were designed to glow at a different color it will cause either more or less of the energy to be converted into heat. I believe the blue-er that the light is, the less energy goes into making the light and more goes into heat. (The most efficient lights would actually be pretty yellowish and the hottest ones being blue to purpleish.)

the harness
will that harness listed above fit a 92 svx? it says on the site for subaru's 2000 or newer? if it won't fit, has anyone else upgraded their harness and who do they recommend. also anyone else tried using higher wattage bulbs (100w) and did they have problems with using those bulbs?

I'm thinking of getting the harness as well. My impression was to use the generic 9006/9005 harness. I wonder why they don't do one for the H3's.

Quote:
The reason they do not make an H3 kit is that the H3 bulb is a 1 wire bulb. It grounds through the mounting base. Since every mounting base is attached and grounded differently from manufacturer to manufacturer, they wouldn't be able to put on the right ground harness to match every vehicle design. You could easily get a different kit, cut the socket off and add on high temp spade connectors to work with our H3 setup. Doug

Would the Clear headlight covers from smallcar.com improve it? (when it comes out of course). Does anyone know how much that would run?
