Caliper Seizing Intermittently?

Trying to help my mom get the brakes sorted on her '94 Chrysler Lebaron- she's got a front caliper that's dragging intermittently. The other day it locked up to the point where smoke was coming out of the wheel. The next day it worked fine. The caliper is a remanufactured one that I put on about 6 months ago so my first instinct is to blame a defective caliper, but I've been reading about how a bad brake hose could also be the cause. Anyone have any experience with this or any other advice? Thanks.

Yes took 2sets of pads before we figured it out. On a lift with someone in the car running we watched the brake line swell as we applied the brakes hard. Then it reduces in size as the brake drags. Only one side did it . SS brake lines solved the problem.

Re: Caliper Seizing Intermittently?

Yeah, change the brake hoses. Had the front calipers seize up on my durango at seperate times. Needed to change both the caliper and hose each time.

Both times I was towing in rush hour traffic, one time empty, and one time loaded. And eerily, happened going opposite directions but within 2 miles of each other on I94 in Chicago.
