thoughts and prayers for a very little one

hey everyone, first i would like to say i`m typing this from my phone so i apologize for shorthand or if its confusing. And secondly, i normally don`t post anything like this here as i don`t feel the need to post anything too personal here but this is something that requires as many thoughts and prayers as possible.

on sunday the 28th, my sister-in-law gave birth to a baby boy that was 3 and a half months premature and weighing only 1 lb 15 oz. They had the pastor come in right away to baptize him as they really didn`t know how things would wind up. he was doing well his first few days on the earth even was able to have a pacifier in his mouth today as we received a call from my brother with joy. Now tonight we got another call from him. apparently there is a hole in his stomach and it requires immediate critical surgery. And as if surgery isn`t hard enough on a full grown person, imagine doing surgery on a baby just 13 in long who where`s a diaper that you couldn`t even put half your fist into. i just ask all of my fellow svx friends out there to keep my nephew and even moreso my brother and his wife in your thoughts and prayers as they try to cope with the situation as it is right now.

thank you all as i have seen how much of a carring community this is.

You got it!! On top of the 'list'!
My last grandson was just over 2 # and had 'issues' that took a lot of prayer. He is doing well now.
May God Bless this family...

Re: thoughts and prayers for a very little one

Watch out... sometimes those who start small, get big.

I was 6 weeks early, and well under 4lbs, and baptized immediately before a medical helicopter ride to a larger hospital. Unfortunately, I don't remember the helicopter ride. That was several decades ago. Medical science, and microsurgery have come a long way.

But now I am 6'2" and no longer a small one.

I hope, wish, and pray for health and happiness for this little guy, too, and the whole family.

Re: thoughts and prayers for a very little one

thank you everyone! as it turns out, it was an obstruction in his bowel which caused a "perforation" and they had to do surgery where they cut out the affected part and then reconnected the rest. It is a fairly straight forward procedure that they`ve done on both babies larger than him as well as smaller and many have survived being smaller than what he is. He is still not out of the woods as you can imagine but this is one hurdle that seems to have been leaped.
thank you everyone for your concern as well as the comforting stories

I don't normally pray or even go to church. This case is a rare exception. I hope the baby pulls through surgery with no problems. Keep us updated

Re: thoughts and prayers for a very little one

Thank you everyone for your prayers and for those not religious, etc, thank you for the words and thoughts.
My parents went up to Green Bay on Saturday to do some shopping as well as check on Simon (his name) to see how he was doing. I am happy to report that he was squirming around under his own power and is now just under 2 lbs 1 oz. He is back on a ventilator just to help make it easier on his fragile body. My parents were able to reach in and Simon was able to grasp their finger as they touched his hands. He will have the bandages on for about a week until it heals and they will remove them. All great news so far and hopefully it continues. Thankfully the hospital they are at has some of the best NICU doctors in the country so he is getting about the best care possible

Will be sure to keep you all updated as he continues to grow bigger and get healthier
