Re: Noise Under Load and Vibration From Engine
Its most likely a lego 5 speed so it was probably the main input bearing. Thats the first one to go on those, then the second main bearing goes. its amazing these those transmissions still operate for how messed up they can get. I've torn down a few lego trans that were so ground up, the case wasnt even reuseable
I'm think my 92 is having that check valve issue also, I'm going to check it tommorow at work. at 2k to 4kish I can hear a squeal like a vacumn leak. it goes away after midrange rpms. And it also has massive hesistation until about 3800 rpms. |

Re: Noise Under Load and Vibration From Engine
Ahhhh!! The Saga is over for now...
Ok, brand new flywheel from Rock Auto was 8 grams out of balance when balanced with a brand new ACT Stage II pressure plate. Replaced TO bearing, pilot bearing, fork and TO bearing clips, and clutch (which all had less than 5k on them.. Went through transmission replaced three bad bearings and all seals and gaskets. Pulled exhaust manifolds replaced pipe studs and exhaust gaskets. Replaced shifter rubber mount with polyurethane mount. Reassembled everything, double checked my work and all the bolts, all bolts torqued to factory specs. Ran it through the gears on the jack stands and checked for noises or vibrations and was GTG. Took her for a test drive and I am happy to report no more noise under load and no more vibration at any RPM. She runs like she never has before, It's like a different car. Smooth as silk. So over a week of work on it and about $1500 in parts she is ready for the road again. I think the only part I have not touched at this point is the fuel pump and I'm sure that will be next... now for a beer....
