Re: Salute to veterans

Is it that 11th minute of the 11th hour of that 11th day of the 11th month again? I wondered where that mail was! Thanks to all who have served, are signed up to serve or continue to serve.

Do ourselves a favor.. If you know an 'Old Vet', take a recorder and ask some questions that will pull out some 'stories'!

I have heard some really good ones!

My Dad told me of the day that a 15 gallon container of strawberry Ice cream was dropped from an airplane in the area of Alaska that he was stationed in. The paracute failed and the icecream hit the ground at 100 mph +. The pink spray coated everything for 100 yards!
Pink snow!

Etc, etc.

THANKs Vets!!!! We owe you EVERYTHING!!

My former father-in-law was a Marine in the South Pacific campaign of World War II. He never seemed to much like talking about those days, and I can certainly understand why. Once he handed me a book (wish I could recall the name) and said, "Wanna know what it was like? Read this." The horror those guys experienced was just shattering. This always comes to mind whenever I think of combat veterans from any theater of war.

Re: Salute to veterans

I'd like to add my thank you as well.

The First World war was a multi million people slaughter machine.

WW2 was Hell on Wheels and bombing of civilians.

The people who lived through these conflicts to set us on a safe path deserve our respect. Let's hope our awareness of their sacrifice keeps us from going that road again, ever.

Joe

Dad didn't say a lot, but he bought all of those 2 foot long, 18 inch high books that SHOWED 1,000 plus dead Jews!
They showed the GAS chambers, the 'cattle cars' on the trains with the Old men, Women and children sticking their arms through the spaces between the boards. The pictures of the children with " NO MILK" tattood on the arm!

This was a period of abuse that has not, Thank God, Been repeated on such a large scale, since!

The closest we have came is when so-damn insane released mustard gas on the Kurds!

I sure am glad that we hung THAT SCUM-BAG!! I just can't BELIEVE that 'we' ELECTED a guy with the same Name TO 'lead US, SO CLOSE TO THE HANGING!!!!

Kinda looks like a liar that had the name HITLER could be elected by the DEMS in 1946!!

SORRY!! I just couldn't resist.

When I was a 'college puke', I hung out with Viet-Nam vets. On 11-11, we would go the the donut shop and buy all the donuts and 'commission' a coffee pot from where-ever. We would set up shop at the local campus and give away coffee and donuts all day!

You would be suprised to see how many people involved in 'HIGHER' education that had NO idea WHY we were giving away coffee and donuts!

I PROMISS that I will be at the local campus NEXT year, giving away coffee and donuts!

I just might require that the 'recipiant' of the 'gift' look at some pictures in a book that measures 2 ft by 18 inches!!
