Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
Got a 90 300zx N/A with a TT swap in the works. It's the 2 seater, so this little thing is me + 1 lucky passenger. I've enjoyed it so far, however I do miss the SVX. I'm already looking for another SVX to pick up lol.

nice. In your opinion, how does it compare to the SVX?

My other favorite car. I wish I could do a 2 seater but it's just not practical for me. Still I'm jealous. Enjoy it!

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
Been cramming my kids in the back seat of my svx the past few days while other cars are in the shop. They're less than pleased. I'll tell them to be thankful they're not hanging onto hte spoiler.

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
As far as comparing the two cars...can't
Two completely different worlds. One is for comfort with good sport aptitude, the other is sport, with less comfort. The 300zx will never be the SVX to me. The SVX was seriously one of the most comfortable cars I've driven. The 300zx is great too though. It feels extremely flat all the time. It's just the 2 seater, which works great, I'm in college and don't really need to be carting around the posse. I would say that they both felt powerful, but one was just a different kind of power. The SVX definitely takes it in weather changes...wet/snow/dry/whatever, the 300zx isn't terrible in any of them, but again, a different breed of car. To say the least, both are awesome, and if you have the means get both. I plan on getting another SVX in the future..just too nice of car to leave be, but for now the 300zx is an awesome car. I have to say that the aftermarket will take me farther with it, as well as the cost. If anyone tells you they are money pits, remind them of the small community the SVX has received, much less the aftermarket, which is smaller yet. For me the Z is way more affordable, but I hope that I can remain in the loop here, this is so far the best forum I've been on, and I would dearly miss being involved.

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
interesting, thoughtful response. I am also the proud owner of a 280zx turbo, which is a very different car than the 300zx but in the same vain. I like the 280zx and enjoy driving it. It is certainly a more sporty feeling and I must admit that I get a lot more compliments on the 280 than I ever get on my SVX. But when it comes to comfort and pleasure to drive there is no question the SVX is the car of choice....

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
I'm confused. The 300ZX in my driveway cost twice as much as my first SVX and THAT was cheap for a 300ZX (because it needed some engine work). So how is your 300ZX more affordable? Am I the only one that doesn't think the SVXs parts are that expensive?

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
So far, all the parts I've found for the 300zx have been cheaper and easier to find. The SVX was not outlandishly expensive, but for repairs, sometimes oem isn't the way to go, and the aftermarket is scarce. As well as things like the transmission, that cost me an arm and a leg to fix...TWICE. I've found junkyard trannies with 100k on them, at least advertised with a 100k on them for $200, some less. The SVX trannies I was able to find with 130k-180k on them were going for about $750 and up. These things make a difference.

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
Nice looking Z, enjoy it! This was the car I was considering before the SVX.... and a toss up between a stealth, but ultimately I chose the SVX, which I do not regret.

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
I love both those cars ( SVX and 300) but when* it comes to working on them i would take the SVX everytime.* The 300 is so cramped in the engine bay, double with the turbos.* If it comes to a turbo Nissan i pick the RB.* The strait six has so much more room on each side it's sick!

Re: Sold my SVX, and this is what I got for now
Agreed! It is a time fit, but ya know, sometimes you just have to buy a car! I will get another SVX at some point, I love them. I really am looking at getting a stealth/3000gt however their heavier yet, although the stealth is lighter for some reason. But for the moment I got to focus more on school, although the new job I have allows for a lot more expendable funds. I recently have been able to get involved in a technical oriented job for amazon.com, which pays pretty good for a 20yr old college student. I'm 14.75 an hour right now so I guess I can't complain too much as far as work goes. So hopefully I'll be able to get into another SVX sometime soon.
