Transmission Cable Replacement

Is there any BTDT's on best way to do this? I searched but did not see any. Mine broke today at the shift lever.

Re: Transmission Cable Replacement

Replacing the cable isn't too bad, getting to it is a complete PITA. If the heat shield above the exhaust is still in place, you'll have to remove that. If it is already gone, you may be able to reach it with the exhaust and driveshaft in place. Skinny hands and many 12mm wrench/socket options will be a huge benefit here.

Otherwise you can try to just release the exhaust where it attaches to the trans and about 2 feet back at the center mounts. Also remove the 2x14mm bolts holding the center carrier of the driveshaft in place. by allowing the exhaust and driveshaft to droop a little it will give you more room.

Or just remove the exhaust and driveshaft and it should be fairly easy.
