i have the ECUTUNE stage 1 chip so i can use regular gasoline (i use 87 octane), but im getting anywhere from 12-15 mpg

really, what improves gas mileage?
Theres a lot of factors. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. use some fuel injector cleaner. make sure your car is properly tuned up ( air filter, spark plugs etc), make sure theres no stored codes. Short trips will kill the mileage also, so try doing all of your errands in one run.

This is why I am considering putting either the Claret or the tomato car away for awhile and putting the FWD SVX on the road.

I actually get 22mpg in my SVX and that is combined hwy and city with the majority is on the hwy. Ive had to turn that into my daily driver due to the fact that I commute over 30 miles each way to work and my 02 dodge ram gets 11 mpg. but come summer Ill be riding a motorcycle that gets 50+ mpg

My SVX ran great on 87... got better gas mileage than premium!!

My Dr. SUS also runs on 87 and might I add runs like a raped ape still getting about 25 city and close to 30 unabused highway

So... fix your cars people, they should be doing better

My Claret gets 22-26 MPG (city/highway combo) running on 87. When I had it running premium it was getting 19.

Regular just hit 3.69 here in Frederick.

I stopped measuring my mpg.

With petrol at (US converted) $8.75/gallon here, it's just too depressing to work out the running costs. My only comfort is that my Legacy gets worse mileage so I actually save money by enjoying driving the SVX.

See the "how to" documents under "engine." Engine control unit codes usually illuminate the CHECK ENGINE light to alert you to some aspect of engine performance or monitoring that's gone out of bounds, usually a faulty sensor or the like. Check the codes to pinpoint the trouble.

Agree that tracking fuel costs and consumption is rather depressing these days, but I figure one of the surest signs of a contented engine is consistent fuel economy.

I dragged my 'silly Rabbit' out of mothballs. The dents are almost ready for primer, I will be installing heaters on the fuel lines and tank so the (home-made) BIO-DIESEL doesn't gel on me.
(42 city, 50+ hiway) however your 'pride' is damaged by sounding like a Kenworth at traffic lites.

Yea, I'm going VW again! I'm just glad I didn't get rid of it after the last f#$%ing we got at the pumps. I will wean this baby off the pumps!

Going 'Liquid Silver and Graphite'... ( I hate Hunter Green)

The last time, I ran it for 2 months and fueled it 2 times. It had 3/4 of a tank when I parked it. It's still there. However, the daughter would rather walk to school if the 'ride' was a green diesel Rabbit!

Did the road trip today. 400 miles round trip. Checked mileage down, 24.2, have not refueled yet but the guage is 1/4 higher than it was the first time I fueled. 89 octane going down 93 for the return trip. hoping for 28 again.
