Cool...mod goes in tomorrow...took it to the original dealer today who did the trans...records show it was done at 96k not 86k..service tech test drove it and said it shifts like new.Actually offered me more than I paid, i am just used to bang bang bang, chirping all gears..I'll let ya know how I like it...oh..TIRES?....Doing tires tomorrow too...the Potenza G 009's it came with are terrible and noisy..I think I read about Yokohama's someplace?..Anyone?..Thanks

start saving up for a 5 spd swap.?..oh please... At 44 yrs old, if I had to save for a 5-speed swap, I should have never bought an SVX in the first place...I just sound like a kid

Great. Have you seen the forum for the upcoming 9th Annual Reading Meet. It is April 18-20 this year. And is the largest gathering of SVX's in the world each year. Last year we had ~45 and will most likely beat that this year

I still say the switch on the shifter trim from a 94 and later SVX is the perfect place for doing the mod on a 92.

How about making the manual button into the power/non-power switch? Can the wiring be redone at the TCU this way?

I suppose I could look it up in the FSM but maybe someone already knows...

I bought the supplies to do this today. I'm going to put the switch inside the ashtray (I don't smoke, obviously) There are a few spots I can ground it there fairly easily.

Sure. Just you could pull the terminal out of position A6 and pop it into A4. But then you won't have any way to put your transmission into manual mode - or to check your transmission error codes.

I haven't really looked into this...

But couldn't we just hook up the parking lite switch where it is?
I can't think of a reason in this fast paced world to turn on the parking lites?
Just a thought

Ah that's good to know...

I have never come into any reason to use the manual mode, so that would be no loss. I suppose I could re-rig it should checking error codes ever become needed.

Now..can I make the 'econ' lamp light up hmm... that might be a project for us USDM types since there is probably no bulb in there..

Yeah, just imagine how much you could save on fuel if only you could light that bulb up.

I was thinking, since I have a switch wired already, why not switch the "manual mode" with the "power mode?" Would it be as simple as switching out A4 with A6?

Yeah. You can do that, but then you can't use manual mode anymore or read trans error codes.

I'm going to do this mod as soon as I get a new brake band in. I'll use one of those cool aircraft red cover switches.
