Grapes? Didn't think of that, but I'm sure you can fit bunches

So when do you predict this project will be done? I am interested in the end result.

LMAO

Well, seeing that my diff blew up last week and I'm not driving as much, it'll get done alot sooner than I thought. Probably in a month or so, if I take my time.

You can use a larger disc to grind that interior. But man... I bet you are putting too much weight on that spoiler

But nice work you've done, try to fab a mold out of it (when done) and refab the trunk from scratch using the mold and fiberglass

Yeah I have put a decent amount of weight onto it, but at the same time half of it gets sanded off when I start to smooth out the lines, etc.

The mold idea would be pretty nice, but I don't think I'd have the skills to perfect it.

Lol, well I guess I should rephrase that then...

I don't think I have enough funds right now to do that.

Well after thinking about it for a minute, I think making a mold out of it would be challenging. It needs to be done in 3~4 separate mold and be attached later on to form the final shape... You are right, it will take a lot of time and skills to perfect it

Here's a few more pics of progress. Not much progress tonight though, because my grinder decided it wanted to catch on fire and stop working. It was a POS anyway, Oh well.

This was BEFORE it caught on fire It smoked 10x as much as this pic.

A little smoother inside there

A little more smoother inside there.

When I first started to grind away the back of the wing. I started at the middle.

I got about 80% across the back before the grinder pooped out.

The farthest I got.

I sanded down the bondo too far and hit the styrofoam. I just pushed it in and added some more bondo to it. The second time around, I hit the styrofoam farther up on the wing and I have to re-bondo it again.

Another shot.

In conclusion, CHEAP GRINDERS SUCK.

looks like your using an angle grinder which is not made for what you are doing. you need an air grinder that fits in your hand(the smallest one you can find) which runs off a compressor. it will work A LOT better for bondo and other things.

It was made to grind metal, and it couldn't even do that. It's because there's no torque in the little thing, it cost like $30.

If I had the extra $100+ right now to buy a palm grinder than I would, cuz I'd really like one.

the best grinder ever

These are usually on sale for $14.99 and are the best thing you can buy for under a bill. It took me 6 yrs to wear out my first one and my second one is still going strong!

I'm not saying this is the best tool for the job, but it is a good cheap replacement for what you just just let the smoke out of.

A dremel with a cylinder bit with 40 or 80 grit on it would be the best thong for the inside of the wing

Yeah I've put mine through ton's of abuse. For cutting metal their, 10 packs of 4.5 inch cutting disks are another great buy.

I second going the Harbor Freight route. I have bought a lot of tools I needed only occasionally and did not want to spend a bundle on them . Everything I have bought has been extremely well made and worked without any problems.

My most recent purchase from them was an aluminum racing jack to use in the garage and to carry in the trunk instead of our stock jack. It lifts 3000 lbs and goes for only $79.00. I have used it several times and it is really great. Weighs less than 25 lbs.

See it HERE

I had a fun time using this grinder to grind metal off a rusted Stair case for some work. It worked good ^^ Sept we had one Burn out and catch fire on us. But the other 2 worked great!

[hijack]
Funny Story about that, our boss Bill, was a a$$hole, he was getting pissy with us because we were taking our time to grind down the metal good. He grabs the a grinder and starts to grind rusted metal above his head without goggles and a mask, I didn't want to end up in the hospital getting rust removed from my eye. But anyways he did it and surprise guess what got in his eyes? Rusted Metal, and if anyone knows what happens when you get that in your eye will feel his pain. TBH I laughed at him for being impatient and trying to be a show up. He didn't enjoy that day one bit.
